Parent's Day

Did you know Sunday was Parent's Day? I'm guessing no. Me either, I had never heard of it. But my kids had heard of it. It was listed on two of their calendars.

Mr T.3(my husbands alias for this blog) and I woke around 9am to a quiet house. Not that unusual since our kids generally sleep until 8 and often sleep in until 9am. Apparently they were just really quiet this Sunday. Mr T.3 went downstairs to get a great surprise. I usually sleep in on Sunday's so I stayed in bed. The girls had gotten up at 6:40 to prepare a special parent's day for us. Soon after Mr T.3 went downstairs(they gave him breakfast and got him with confetti), I got 2 cuties coming bringing me breakfast in bed and yelling, "Happy Parent's Day!" To which I replied, "Happy what?" Along with a whole discussion about what is Parent's day and Mr T.3, "Have you ever heard of it?," to the kids, "Where did you hear about this?," etc. Probably not the reaction they were looking for...oops.

First Day of Our 2011-2012 School Year!

Today is the end of our break and the start of our new school year! (I wrote this on July 11th, but never uploaded the photos and therefore didn't publish the post...oops!)

Snowflake is now a 4th grader! and Pumpkin is in Pre-K! They are quite excited! They are pictured above after our morning trip to the Library with a quick stop at Office Max where Pumpkin found a new pencil case. She loves her cute little puppy  with the pink bow! Now she has a pencil case just like Snowflake! Both are dressed up.

Budget Grocery Tip

Happy 4th of July! Since it looks like we are not going to any fireworks because of thunderstorms, I have a few minutes to add a new blog entry. Here are 2 pictures of one of our 4th of July traditions...patriotic cupcakes! Yum (and not natural or organic!)

When people know our family food budget, I get asked for tips on how I make it work. While I am not certain I want to put out there yet how much our weekly budget for a family of four is, I did actually think of a couple of simple tips today to help make your own food budget stretch. While these two that I thought of today aren't anything earth shattering, hopefully, I will remember many more of my little ideas that when you put them together make our budget work.
