Yarn Wreaths

I made these wreaths for both my parents and Mr. T's parents as well as all our siblings as Christmas/Hanukkah presents this year. I made 6 in all (one isn't pictured since I finished it a little last minute). I got the idea from this blog: Take Heart - DIY: Yarn Wreath with Felt Flowers. She has a whole tutorial on how to make them.

I thought I would share mine here just for fun. They were easy to make (just took quite a bit of time to wrap the yarn around the wreath form) and

Cricut Christmas Card

I am having fun with my Cricut Expression 2. I received it as my 40th birthday present from my whole family!

I am by no means an expert with it at this point. I am still learning about what all it can do and finding all kinds of fun blogs that teach me more!

I decided to make some Christmas cards with it this year. I started by looking on the web and pinterest for ideas. Ultimately, I modified what I found and just used ideas I saw as a jumping off point. I used the Cricut CraftRoom to do all the planning of the pieces and cut from there.

Christmas Baby Shower

I recently planned a Christmas Baby Shower for a friend who is having a girl next year. She tends to deliver early, so our co-op decided to go ahead and give her the shower now since she may have delivered by the time we have our next social.

I scoured the internet and of course pinterest for ideas for the shower. The shower was a part of our homeschool co-op's monthly social/party. We plan something each month, usually around whatever holiday or season is coming up. This month we of course celebrated Christmas as well as learned about a few other holidays (Hanukkah and Diwali to name a few). I needed the shower that I planned to fit into the already going theme and make it a SURPRISE!

We managed the surprise part! Yay!!!

Here is what I decided to do for the shower. Now remember as you read this that the shower was for a homeschool co-op. So, it was to include a group of 20-30 kids as well as about 10 moms. I needed things that would keep the kids interest and make the baby shower fun for them.

For the decor part of the shower, I kept it simple and to the theme of Christmas and baby girl.

Gingerbread Houses

This weekend we participated in my favorite holiday tradition.

The house my family made. Rapunzel's tower is to the left with a pond and
bonfire and beach umbrella and on the right a tire swing.

This tradition started for my family back in 1976. My parents found an article in the December 1976 issue of Sunset Magazine for making log cabin style gingerbread houses. Now, if it were me, I would have found the article, thought it was really neat, saved it and maybe 3 years later actually tried it, but apparently my mom is more efficient than I am because we started making the gingerbread houses that year and have never stopped. It has even become a bi-coastal multi-city event. We just need my cousin Michelle to start making them in Europe and we could claim world wide fame!
