Oh my goodness, I’m excited to share today’s post with you. It has been a while since I’ve shown you any American Girl crafts. Today, I’ve got an idea for cute homemade Christmas ornaments perfect for that girl in your life who loves American Girl dolls.
Not only is this craft super easy it is also inexpensive to make. Yay! Gotta love a craft like that.
Supplies:
- Star ornament (you could get one made from ceramic or paper mache)
- Mod Podge
- Paint brush
- American Girl Crafts stickers
Like I said this craft is super easy. Pick out your ornament. Pick out the stickers you want. Place the stickers on the ornament. Use Mod Podge to seal the stickers to the ornament. Done!
Normally when working with Mod Podge, you place a layer of it down then add the item you are adhering and finish with coats of Mod Podge to seal. In making this ornament, I was using stickers, so I didn’t start with the layer of Mod Podge. I just stuck the stickers directly on the ornament. I finished with 3 layers of Mod Podge to seal the stickers to the ornament.
My daughter picked out the Julie stickers as Julie is her favorite.
On the opposite side of the ornament, I Mod Podged a star sticker an employee gave us on our last visit to the American Girl Doll store.
I promised you a super easy homemade Christmas ornament. I’m not sure I could give you an easier craft. It also turned out to be crazy inexpensive. The ceramic ornament was on sale for $0.68. I bought the stickers with my 50% off coupon so they cost me $3. I had the Mod Podge, but if I didn’t you could add another $2 or $3. For around $6, I had a customized American Girl Doll ornament. Perfect!
Not only was it easy, it will be special for many years to come. I give each of my daughters an ornament each year that represents something important to them from that year. It is a family tradition. My mom used to do the same for my brother and I. It sure makes decorating the tree special each year.
Do you have any special ornaments or ornament traditions in your family?
Very cute idea! Having three boys, don’t think I could pull off the American Girl ornament but I could do a Thomas the Tank Engine one! 😉 Visiting from Tip Junky.
Kat, that is a great idea to just change the theme! Works perfect. It surely can be adapted for any interest or theme. Have Fun!
