I'm super excited to share with you today's super cute idea. I have an American Girl Craft for you. These are really easy and inexpensive mailboxes you can make for your dolls or even just for your child as a cute way to give them notes or Valentine's. What child wouldn't love their own little mailbox…I know mine like theirs!
We got this idea from the latest American Girl magazine. They have such fun ideas in their magazine. My daughters opened up this month's issue and saw this idea. They loved it! I just happened to find the little mailboxes in the dollar section of Target the next day! Love when that happens. Then it was just a simple trip to 3 craft stores to find the candlesticks that act as a stand. Why couldn't they have had them at one of the first 2 stores? Oh well, we got them and they are done and super cute…so on with the tutorial for you.
First, take a piece of duck tape to hold the mailbox lid in place. It is not held on with a hinge, just a flimsy piece of tape.
Paint your candlestick any way you prefer. this is how Pumpkin painted hers. She LOVES it!
Use E6000 glue at the top of the candlestick to adhere it to the bottom of the mailbox.
Embellish away! As you can see, both my daughters used their stash of American Girl stickers and an idea from the magazine. They put the names of their dolls on the flag of the mailbox. The top blue mailbox belongs to Snowflake's dolls. They are: Samantha, McKenna and Julie. The Pink mailbox belongs to Pumpkin's dolls. Her dolls are: Felicity, Saige and Josefina (don't you love her spelling, since she is 6, I think it is really cute!).
The next step is to fill up your mailbox with letters, notes or Valentine's. I have a printable Valentine for your doll (Printable Valentines)! They are super cute and I can't wait to share them with you, so go check them out! I will have the link again at the bottom of this post so you can see the rest of our cute dolls and mailboxes.
Julie was heading out to her mailbox when I was trying to get pictures of the mailboxes.
Saige was out at her mailbox, too. What are the chances of catching the neighbors at the mailbox at the same time?
Saige got a letter…wonder who it is from?!
Aren't they adorable? A super easy and inexpensive American Girl craft for you. Mine cost $4 each. $1 for the mailbox and $3 for the candlestick. I could have made it less expensive by using a coupon for the candlestick but I was buying other things that day that needed the coupon.
Don't forget to go check out our super cute printable Valentine for you and your doll. (Printable Valentines)
