Picking up where we left off in the last post about our recent vacation in Arizona (Arizona Road Racers Summer Series 5k), we were at In-N-Out Burger following a 5k and swimming. It was time to make my girls feel super special and have a little fun pampering them. They were both to be flower girls in my cousin’s wedding. I wanted my girls to feel like it was a big deal/special occasion.
After lunch, we found a walk-in salon and let them do their hair.
It was a special day for sure. I thought it was so neat that my cousin asked my girls to be her flower girls. Not only because we had spent time with the happy couple and had enjoyed having them at our house for Easter last year. (My girls sure did have fun with them.) It was also special because I was a Jr. Bridesmaid in her Mom and Dad’s wedding when I was the same age as Snowflake (10). It was one of those neat full circle moments with a lot of meaning for everyone
Then it was time to go back to Momo and Bapa’s house (my parents) where I gave them mini manicures and pedicures. We used a pretty purple that went with the color of the wedding. My girl’s felt pampered, pretty and special! Yay! I managed to show off my usual graceful self and spill the purple nail polish on my Mom’s white carpet…yay! Way to go!
All dressed and ready to go! I even put a little blush on them both…Ooh La La!
Of course, in keeping it real (since that is the title of my blog), Snowflake was a bit mad that not only did Pumpkin get to wear high heels BUT she also got to wear blush and she is only 5, etc., etc. But we recovered from that and moved on to have a great time at the wedding.
They each wanted a picture with ‘their’ basket. AKA the basket at the front of the wedding site with their color ribbon. Pumpkin was about to move the yellow one to ‘her’ side of the site so it would match her. Umm…no sweet girl.
My beautiful Snowflake!
The setting for the wedding was so pretty!
My beautiful Pumpkin!
Pumpkin was the first of all the girls to walk down the aisle. She did fantastically and remembered everything she had been told to do. She even walked really slowly! Yay! You did it! See that huge smile on her face…she loved being a flower girl!
Snowflake was next. She had kept saying prior to the wedding that she was super excited and how great it was going to be, but when it came time, she got a little nervous. I think only her parents could tell she was nervous. She did fantastic as well! She remembered to walk slowly and even remembered to look up and smile as she went! Yay! You did it! She looks so poised and beautiful. She also loved being a flower girl and wanted to soak up every minute of her self-proclaimed 5 minutes of fame!
Both my girls did really well! Only the one incident where Pumpkin decided to lean on the arbor and it wobble quite a bit, but I don’t think anyone, except us nervous parents, noticed that.
My cousin and my Uncle walking down the aisle
She looked so beautiful!
I love the top picture. It is really sunny and bright in Arizona…Pumpkin really wanted to see. So cute!
All the bridesmaids. They looked beautiful! Loved that my cousin just let them each choose a black dress that they liked. It looked really good and they each have a dress they will actually wear again….no, really! 🙂
I love the last picture because it is my girls and my Dad.
He was the officiant for the wedding ceremony.
Saying their vows
Now they are married!
Congrats you two!
We are so glad that we got to be a part of your beautiful, special day!
All the younger cousins
They all had so much fun at the wedding. Particularly when the dancing started! My camera was being funky for most of my trip in AZ (boo!) or I would have added some shots of them all dancing. The girls each got a turn to dance with the groom as well, which they all thought was really neat.

@MM You are welcome! I remember being a flower girl at 5 because the ‘real’ flower girl wouldn’t go down the aisle. She was too nervous. I remember thinking it was the coolest thing! I hope my girls have those same great memories. Thanks so much!
Stopping in from Wednesday Whatsits. Thanks for the memories. I was a flower girl when I was 7 and was so excited but nervous that I would forget something. Beautiful girls you have there!
Thanks! I’m so proud of my girls!
