I thought I would start this Training Tuesday with a tip for you.
This may sound gross to talk about, but let’s just be real. Running is a sweaty sport. Just wait until you hear your five year old daughter discussing how sweaty you are when you come home from running with one of her friends….lovely conversation to realize just how yucky I must be when I get home. Hopefully the little girl didn’t repeat the conversation to her mom. How embarrassing!
Anyway, I wanted to tell you something that has really been helping me this year. I was really struggling with running in the heat and humidity here earlier this summer. I tried wearing a visor, thinking that it might help me a little bit. I’m not sure it helped in terms of helping me feel any cooler. What I love about wearing a visor is the fact that it helps keep a bunch of the sweat off my face and out of my eyes. See, I told you this would be a lovely conversation. If you haven’t ever run with a visor or a hat, I highly recommend you give it a try. It works really well in helping keeping your face a bit less sweaty and such while you are out there running. Good thing if you ask me. If you ask my daughter, I’m just dripping in sweat any which way and it doesn’t really matter. 😉
This week, I tried to get a run in on a day Mr. T was at work. It had been raining earlier that morning and I couldn’t run before he left. I thought it would work to go for a run while both my girls were riding their bikes.
Below you can see how it went for me(and you can see my visor):
Happy running to you!
P.S. If you are just joining in on my training, you can view my half marathon training plan here or view other weekly updates here.

I’m up to 6 miles and it’s hard!
You’re doing a fantastic job training and training your kids! I have to figure out something soon about combating the sweat because it wreaks havoc on my hair and if I wash my hair more often than once a week, I’m in for trouble. I read online about this Dri-Sweat band they sell at Sally’s and I hope I can find it in my area so I can see how it works. Might need to do that and a visor! 🙂
The pic of you carrying the bike cracked me up:) I can definitely relate to that. Keep up the great (hard) work!

oh my goodness, you are so amazing to try to do it with your girls! I remember running with my mom and she would make us stay a car length ahead so that she wouldn’t have to stop.
I always found the week for the 10 was the hardest training. Good luck!
Well, if you were with me you wouldn’t have found it amazing at all. First we were crazy slow, second I was less than patient and kind. I need to learn to relax and have no expectations. The having them stay a car length ahead would be great…if only I could get my 5 year old to not use her brakes! 😉
Yes, I did 10 a few weeks ago and I have kind of been dreading going back out. Maybe that is why…it is a block or something with that mileage.
Thanks for saying that…it helps me see maybe I just need to push through.
I’m working on a 10K right now, and if I can handle that I’ll move on to a half… thanks for the tips! {found you through Craftionary}
