I told you about Polyvore in a post last month. I enjoy watching Polyvore, seeing things I like and seeing trends. It is fun to me. The only thing I sometimes find frustrating is seeing the prices of the pretty, cute or trendy items I like. It is not uncommon to see a purse for $3,000 or a pair of shoes for $700. Ummm, I don't know about you, but I don't have that kind of money. So, I decided to watch for a trend and find a way to make the outfit for a lot less…hopefully something I could afford.
I have been watching and seeing a flirty trend I wanted to show you today.
Before I show you the trend, a little housekeeping. PLEASE, if you pin any of the ‘sets' below, go to the original source (which is listed below the set) and pin from there. Only one of these sets is my own creation and I want to make sure the correct people get the credit for their pretty work. Thanks! Also, click on those source links to go to Polyvore. There you can see pricing and purchase any of the items. You can also give the set creators some love by ‘liking' their set. You do this by clicking on the heart to the right of the set.
Have you see these super cute high low maxi skirts? I am such a sucker for skirts….I love them! Although I hardly ever wear them anymore as I am usually found sitting on the floor with my kids and skirts just don't work for that life. I still love skirts. I love this current trend.
I just love the colors and the flowing fabric in the skirt of this set. So pretty. The shirt is $320, the purse $110 and the necklace is $325. I love this set and if I had the money and the place to wear it, it would be in my closet.
As I stated at the beginning, I wanted to make an entire set that was within reach for my budget. I created a set following this trend that is all from JCPenney and Target (affiliate link). I am not a huge jewelry or accessory person, so you will notice that my set doesn't have tons of that. You could always add more.
If you were to purchase the dress, shoes, purse and accessories your total cost would be $136. While that is not cheap (at least to me) it is a ton less expensive than any of the outfits I love above. You could also easily use a pair of black shoes that you already have and save that $50. You could also add your own accessories and save there. I just love the turquoise color and thought it was fun to add a pop of color…plus I am a sucker for skirts and shoes. Since I wear a size 11, I often have to drool over shoes and wish I could find them in my size. Oh well….saves me a lot of money.
There you have it, my own little fashion report for you with a get it for yourself at more reasonable prices twist. Hope you enjoy it!
